From May 14 to May 17, 2025, MUNG embarked on a transformative legal and strategic exploration across Qianhai and Hangzhou. Represented by a six-member delegation — including Managing Partner Monin Ung, MUNGVERSE Managing Partner Ung Gim Sei, Strategy & Business Director Michael Hui, Associate Lawyer Julian Lam, and Company Secretary Eunice Hui — the firm ventured to deepen regional collaboration and harness opportunities within the emerging WEB3 and New Economy landscape.
Forging Cross-Border Synergy with Kingding

The highlight of our journey was a series of high-level engagements with our strategic partners at Kingding Law Firm, with whom MUNG will be entering into a joint venture in Qianhai under the name Kingdin MUNG 垦丁梦律师事务所. On May 15, we were graciously hosted at their offices for a full-day knowledge exchange and strategic discussion forum focused on legal frontiers in WEB3, DAOs, and cross-border business development.
During the morning session, our Managing Partner Monin Ung delivered an insightful keynote exploring “WEB3典型案例与合规沙龙” (WEB3 model cases and regulatory salon), addressing the rapid convergence of real-world asset tokenisation (RWAs) and blockchain applications. She emphasized how these developments are reshaping legal practice, asset ownership, and digital identity.
This was followed by a series of expert presentations, diving deep into frontier AI applications, DAO governance frameworks, and compliance risks in emerging sectors. These sessions significantly enriched our understanding of the mainland regulatory climate and the innovative legal mechanisms required in this fast-evolving field.
Business Opportunities in the New Frontier

In the afternoon, our Strategy & Business Director Michael Hui captivated the room with a rousing talk on business development opportunities in Qianhai, business opportunities in the Greater Bay Area, and how Hong Kong’s unique political, legal and geographic position can propel cross-border integration between Hong Kong and China. With vivid storytelling, he likened our current moment in legal innovation to the early American frontier:
“In the early days of America, there were people who took up caravans and flags and went to the west to claim land. Kingding and MUNG are just like these people, discovering and untapping the potential in the wild west that is WEB3 and the New Economy. And in the future, they will call the US what they call those people who went west — trailblazers, pioneers, and forefathers.”
This message deeply resonated with the audience, emphasising the shared spirit of vision and adventure underpinning the MUNG-Kingding alliance, and how the alliance is ready to become the pioneers at the frontiers of the New Economic landscape.
Immersive Legal & Tech Exchange in Hangzhou
The trip continued with a whirlwind itinerary in Hangzhou from May 16 to 17, where we engaged with top AI, tech, and legal experts. Highlights included:

A private session with 一念星球, an AI specialist, introducing the role of AI in marketing, business positioning and how AI can transform a business from the ground up.

A networking visit to Yowant MCN, a publicly listed cutting-edge media and content incubator, which specialises in management of KOLs (Key opinion leaders); including a tour of their X27 Park Campus, which is the first simultaneously online and offline storefront, which focuses on selling products via short-form media.

A meeting with Zhong Lun law firm LLP Partner 王红燕, who kindly shared with us the needs of big Chinese firms who are trying to expand globally.

A corporate site tour and legal tech exchange at Hikvision, one of the world's leading surveillance tech companies, with a massive legal team of 100 plus members.

A special meeting with the Hangzhou Lawyers Association, where we were warmly received by Secretary-General 沈海鸥, gaining valuable insights into local legal reform and internationalization strategies.
Looking Forward
Our journey was more than just a professional visit — it was a mission to explore, learn, and lead. As WEB3, AI, and cross-border economies continue to evolve, MUNG is proud to be on the frontlines of this revolution, building bridges between Hong Kong and the mainland, and crafting legal solutions for a decentralized, digitized world. Special thank you to all of our friends in Hangzhou for receiving us and teaching us so many things.
We return inspired, enlightened, and emboldened — ready to be the trailblazers this era demands.
